The Range of Motorcycle Subcultures
Motorcycling is an activity that has a lot of subcultures. These motorcycle
subcultures range from mainstream motorcycle clubs (e.g., amateur racers, trail
riders and long-distance riding clubs) to extreme motorcycling (e.g., motocross
riding, trick stunts and drag racing). Whether you are a motorcycle enthusiast
who prefers riding alone or with a group of other motorcycle enthusiasts,
motorcycling has a social aspect. There are motorcycle clubs, mailing lists and
online forums that cater to every kind of motorcycling enthusiast.
There are "outlaw" motorcycle subcultures. Although the outlaw subcultures are
small compared to the whole motorcycle subculture, they are the ones that
attract lots of attention from the media. The outlaw motorcycle subculture
ranges from the tamer variety (e.g., illegal street racers who do not follow
driving rules and racing on public roads and highways) to the "One percenter"
biker clubs (e.g., criminal gangs that are into trafficking of illegal drugs,
extortion, prostitution and a host of other illegal activities. |
